Our Robin Hood collection takes centre stage in Issue 475 — the UK’s leading tabletop wargaming publication

Miniature Wargames — Issue 475 November 2022 Robin Hood 3D Printable Miniatures

We are proud to announce that Iain Lovecraft miniatures have been featured in Miniature Wargames magazine, Issue 475 (November 2022) — one of the most respected publications in the tabletop wargaming hobby.

The November 2022 issue of Miniature Wargames included an in-depth article titled “The Hood Was Good!” — presenting three linked Robin Hood skirmish scenarios designed for the Feudal Patrol rules by Sally 4th, written by John R. “Buck” Surdu. The article brought Sherwood Forest vividly to the tabletop, supported by beautifully painted miniatures and rich atmospheric scenery.

At the heart of those scenes were sculpts from Iain Lovecraft’s Robin Hood 3D printable miniature collection — characterful, highly detailed figures capturing legendary outlaws, their Norman adversaries, and the common folk of medieval England. The expressive posing and fine sculptural detail made them a natural fit for the article’s dramatic battle dioramas and narrative setpieces.

The article’s double-page spread showcased our miniatures in full action — Robin Hood and his Merry Men facing down the Sheriff’s Anglo-Norman soldiers — all set against immersive medieval terrain. The publication highlighted the level of character packed into each figure and the way they brought authentic personality to every scenario.

The legend of Robin Hood is an archetype for outlaws who fought against the Crown before and during the Baron’s Wars era — these miniatures bring that spirit of rebellion and adventure to life on the tabletop with remarkable fidelity.

Liberation Front — Also in Miniature Wargames

The coverage didn’t end with the November issue. The very next month, Miniature Wargames December 2022 featured Iain Lovecraft’s Liberation Front miniatures in its Forward Observer section — the magazine’s dedicated news and community showcase. Appearing under the heading “A Struggle Against Reality”, the set was highlighted for its expressive characterisation and its perfect fit for populating Roman arenas, ancient city streets, and any scene calling for a spirited cast of rebels and agitators.

The Forward Observer section praised the Liberation Front set for its five highly expressive characters — dynamic poses and richly detailed garments that bring an unparalleled level of realism to any scene. The review noted how naturally the figures lend themselves to depicting a clandestine meeting or a heated political debate, drawing a direct line to the timeless comedy of The Life of Brian‘s Peoples Front of Judea.

The figures are suited equally well to ancient city dioramas, RPG encounter tables, and narrative wargame scenarios — anywhere that defiance and argument are the order of the day. Good likenesses, a breath of fun, and sculpted with the same craft that defines every Iain Lovecraft release.
